It depends on what you mean by 'easier'... If you mean easier to learn
to use for someone familiar with GUIs, then Open Watcom will probably be
easier, since it comes with an IDE (not that gcc can't be used through
an IDE). GCC is probably easier for ports of Linux software, since that
is what is used over there.

I told http://www.freeos.com - via their feedback - that
OSFree has been re-started and that the site has been
updated ( http://www.osfree.org ). I even told them of this
group. With more people being aware of this project, the
greater the number of people who can and/or willing to help
with it.

Downloading the (smallish) zip file as I type.

Would they work for Version 2.0?

Those in the 1-megabyte ZIP archive should work (mostly). The previous
distribution (December 2002) demanded the LIBCS*.DLL libraries, which
haven't been around until 1996.

Relative to the 100+ Meg ISO file for a Linux Distro I managed to suck
through my dialup, it was smaller....

Okay, as soon as I figure out how to get a CD-ROM drive working under 2.0,
I'll give it a spin.

Anyone know how to do that? I'm assuming a driver like you'd use under DOS.

"Supporting other System Applications
The Windows NT architecture allows for subsystems,
as does the ReactOS architecture. A subsystem is an
implementation of the APIs of another operating system,
allowing ReactOS to run applications from other
systems. We are already looking at subsystems for:
Java, OS/2 and DOS and possibly others in the future.

http://www.reactos.com
http://reactos.sourceforge.net "

Copied from the site. Support for OS/2?

Would OSFree work if one unzipped the binaries onto
a hard drive that already has OS/2 on it? I downloaded
OSFree binaries and want to unzip it onto a hard drive
in a notebook computer that has OS/2 Warp ver 4 on it.
I have several older notebook computers but only one
with a cd-rom drive (used among a couple of the notebook
computers and one waiting for one).
