The petition for open sourcine OS/2 has been sent
to the IBM people. I am hoping that they will at
least consider open sourcing parts of OS/2 (parts
IBM has control over). Since IBM is supporting open
source software, it was a good time to send it to
them.

I will probably continue to mention it at the
feedback section of the IBM web site. :)

See osFree webforum at http://www.osfree.org/forum/index.php,
last message in a forum is dated 2005 Nov 22 , There's a development roadmap
draft there etc.

I only hope they will release the sources of the recently changed drivers like all the USB drivers and so on.
In the DDK (which is no longer updated) are only the old driver sources but not the changes/fixes from the latest updates on the drivers.

Those parts that are owned totally by IBM could be open
sourced by them. It will definitely be a help with OSFree
or anyone wanting to advance OS/2 or eCS.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/fte/

From the Dev_Corner group.

-- "

FTE is a free (licensed under the GNU GPL
<http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html>) text
editor for developers. It is really powerful, yet
very easy and intuitive to use.

Ports that can be compiled from the current source
tree include OS/2, Win32 console, DOS, Linux console
and an X port for many UNIX'es, including Linux,
AIX, Solaris, HP, and Cygwin. An incomplete UNIX
terminal port (using s-lang) is also available.

It can be built using GCC ports on all supported
platforms, but other compilers are also supported
on Win32 and OS/2
"

In case anyone is interested.

Done - search hobbes for fte-20051115.zip.

Made some changes and compiled with OW1.4rc2.
