Since I am told that it will probably never happen
(the open sourcing of OS/2 by IBM), another petition
against it would probably be a waste of time. You can
probably create one of your own (not that I would sign
it since I am for open sourcing OS/2).

I should think that the question should be, 'What is the best course of
action to ensure the survival and future development of OS/2?'
AFAIR, The petitioner(s) did not solicit the opinion of OS/2's community
at large, before embarking on their current initiative. The community
may have opted for OS/2 to be put into the hands of SSI or a foundation,
which may be preferred by IBM as well, over a release to open source.
Of course, the road to survival may have numerous forks, only one of
which is open source.

If you want a serious answer - here it is.

Lets suppose we really have full OS/2 sources.
Who will work on it?
How many OS/2 programmers are alive in the World?
How many system OS/2 programmers?
How many OS/2 driver writers?
How many OS/2 kernel specialists?

If you will answer correctly to these questions - you will have the
right anwser on your question.

Yes, i have those famous kernel sources. Everybody saw it in Russia
I see no way to correct it. Only total rewrite.
Who will do it ? And what for ?

The petition company is the most inadequate and stupid action of
OS/2 fanatics who can't and don't want to see the reality.

Even if every petition's signer will send 10$ per year - i'm afraid you
can't form a normal command of professionals to do the work.

Btw 1/3 of all sources are owned by microsoft+ibm

I see that you are on the executive of OS2eCS.org and the only poster
who has identified himself as such, AFAIR. I am curious about its role
in the current petition at OS2 World.

Is it providing the main impetus behind this petition?

I went to the site for OS2eCS.org, but could not find the following data:

1. The location of this organisation's formal charter (USA, Germany,
Czech Republic,...?,
&
2. A listing of its executive (since its list of members is closed to
outsiders).

It did not just happen in a short time period. Other options
are also disccused at the forum there.

I will inquire about this in our next meeting. The list of members is
all members. A list of executives is different. I will check the board
members if we can show them without having to be a member. It is a new
group and a new site. There are 'growing pains' for in new groups.

The OS2eCS Organization is seeking design Logo
submissions and an Animated Banner GIF Ad.

The requirements for the Logo is that it reflects the
OS2eCS Organizatoins mission: "Supporting the
past..OS/2 user and the future eComStation user!
" The Logo should be submitted in GIF or PNG format.

All submissions will be reviewed and a winning design picked.
The winner will receive an official eComStation Islander
Cap or Cotton T-Shirt

All submissions will recieve an official OS2eCS Org.
bumper sticker with the winning Logo imprinted.

We are also accepting designs for an dvertisement

The requirements for this is that it is an animated
GIF that promotes the banner space available for
rent and is the same size as that of the current M$
Boycot ad. The winner of this design will also
recieve an eComStation Islander Cap or Cotton
T-Shirt(their choice).

Please include your name and contact information
as well as a proof of your design. Our members will
pick the winning designs after two weeks. We will

now that object rexx is open, why not go down this route, I know that
os2 code has not been made available yet, but I think the are working on
this, it would also make sence in terms of development,
